The test is nicely poised now, England all out 233 in their 2nd go, so the Saffers need 331 to win which wont be easy on this pitch which is spinning and the bounce is variable to say the least!

What a fantastic spell of bowling from Moeen Ali whose return of 6/53 off just 15 overs helped England to a massive 211 run win as SA finished on 119 all out!

On the broad front I'm watching the Polish rider Rafal Majka again, he should be close to winning a second King of the Mountains jersey Definitely worth a look for a stage win in any mountain stage, and if he gets any sort of support from his team could be worth an interest for the ultimate prize at 66/1. . Froome is not a working man's bet at a shade of odds on, and came down in the wet today during the second stage.

I'm sure no-one took notice of my witterings but I've done my money on Rafal. he came down on Sunday and took out Richie Porte and Geraint Thomas, and joined them in retiring from injury before today's stage. 18 of the 198 starters are out of the race for various reasons. Today's stage through the Dordogne was worth watching just for the spectacular scenery. Kittel won....again.

And now Johanna Konta makes it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon. Great display of nerve and determination.

She sounds more English with every interview. image

Konta given a lesson by Williams, so then there were none. In Le tour Froome loses yellow to Aru albeit by only 6 seconds. Three more mountains stages yet, and a time trial around Marseille on the penultimate day, so anything could happen including a French winner as Bardet, todays stage winner, trails by only 25 seconds.
Roll on tomorrow for the second test match at Trent Bridge.

309/6 at close. I suspect SA have slightly the upper hand. Already some evidence of variable bounce. SA might miss Rabada but I don't see a big run chase succeeding in the 4th innings.

Without adding to the overnight score, Philander is out caught Dawson bowled Anderson. 309/7

Another soon follows with Maharaj caught at second slip by Joe Root off the bowling of Anderson (great start from him today) for a duck. SA now on 318/8
