I've been listening as I cook bangers and mash for the grandkids! We have had a very enjoyable day out at Wicksteed Park and they are sleeping over.

At least we managed to get to the end of the day without casualties.

We'll either bat heroically or crash and burn!
At least we'll be batting in the best conditions tomorrow, bright and sunny.
Straws and clutching spring to mind here....

I believe I am correct in saying that the highest ever run chase (in the fourth innings) was 418 by the West Indies against Australia in 2003.

Scoreboard pressure will see them off unless with sun out the pitch loses all it's demons which I doubt hugely.

To be pedantic, that was England's highest successful run chase. They made 654/5 in the fourth innings of the so-called timeless test in South Africa 1939 when the game was called off as a draw because the boat home was leaving. We've twice made more than 400 and been beaten, both times by the Aussies. Otherwise no team appears to have made more than 451 batting fourth regardless of result. So come on England, plenty of time, history awaits you.

I just love this! Not quite what I had in mind, but, who cares?

David should be home in time for tea. Philander is bowling brilliantly and Jennings and Ballance back in the hutch (and out of the team ?) within 40 minutes.29/2.

Looks like England can book a tee time for 5'ish. Good bouncer from Morris, but not Cook's best effort either. Only 402 left to make.

Moeen gets away with a review for caught behind, then hits the next one straight down square leg's throat. Not much thought, and not an extravagant amount of fight from England.

Philander makes a sharp caught and bowled look easy and Stokes departs. The end is nigh. 126/7.
