Do we really think that the Board put him on the transfer list without telling Sutton? I don't think for one minute that that is the case. Clearly Sutton would have liked to have kept him (there isn't a manager alive that would have 22 players on the books if he could have 26) but the Board have to balance the books.
Sutton's disappointment is in finding out the harsh realities of budgets at this level not, I suggest, in finding out from the press that one of his players is up for sale.
