The very fact that Nat Brown may be out injured for a while means that this will not immediately solve our defensive problems. Good luck to the guy, though!

I wish it to go on my record that NB is very much part of the problem.

NB didn't let us down last season but he mostly had a recognised partner with him. he's experienced and although not a talker he is a relaible CB, just needs the right partner.
I think the problem is further forward, defence starts as soon as you lose the ball, against the Cods we pressed high up and haven't managed to repeat that performance, sadly Nolan has no defensive attrtributes, Power has some but limited and especially when he is not in the right mood. Mendy is the holding midfielder but he needs his partners to do their share which will in turn give the back four a better chance of stopping attacks.

You've said it all really. At 33 NB with years of experience still needs someone dominant with him....we can defend and press further up the field, but not consistently....Mendy can play the holding role but needs partners to put in some effort....Power has to be in the right mood. Help me nurse, the pills are wearing off.
My only interest now is in seeing City not just surviving in the Conference but back in the Football League. For that to stand a chance of happening I submit we need eight committed players in the side capable of making the step up. I didn't see more than three who looked to have that potential last week, and with our recruitment policy/wage structure we are stuck down here (if not worse) for the duration. BD has probably done as much as he can, and given as much as he can afford, and there's no-one else on the horizon at the moment. Negative, yes. But we are what we are and where we are and if we haven't got used to it yet then we'll probably have plenty of time to get used.
