Exactly my thoughts about Formula 1, mate!

Ah Dean, with the tour it's the age old primeval battle between man and drugs (sometimes, allegedly) on one side and nature on the other. But as with golf an hour at a time on TV is more than enough, and as for F1 make that 5 minutes.... at the start of the race.

Bedene (apparently our number three) also through to the third round.

I must admit, I hadn't heard of him until the day before yesterday!

Cricket:

England fight back from 76/4 to end the day on 357/5 in the First Test Vs South Africa.

Root is 184 not out with Moeen Ali on 61 not out.

Very pleasing first day apart from the over rate which was pretty slow to say the least!

Amazing to think that he is the fourth consecutive England captain to get a century in his first test in charge. I'm sure TMS said there had only been two in the previous hundred odd years.

Indeed they did and one was Allan Lamb.

England finished on 458 all out and, in reply, South Africa are 214/5 so still 244 behind. Should be a very interesting day tomorrow.

Konta and Murray through to last 16.

Yeah, I watched most of both those games. How Murray came back from 2-5 down in the fourth set to win it 7-5 is simply astonishing!

In our second innings, we are currently on 117/1 with Jennings out for 33, Cook not out 58 and Ballance not out on 21 (5 extras.)

We lead by 214 with nine wickets standing.

The test is nicely poised now, England all out 233 in their 2nd go, so the Saffers need 331 to win which wont be easy on this pitch which is spinning and the bounce is variable to say the least!
