I would go for Brian Little first, if not, then Peter Jackson.

Little edges it for me because he has Premiership experience.

Be nice to think we would need the latter at some point in the future!

The likes of Newell, Little and Jackson certainly gives us fans some hope that the right calibre of manager may be coming in. I would go for Newell out of the three, but any of them are a lot better than the usual fare drummed up.

Watch us go and appoint Thommo now

I'd prefer either Newell or Jackson. IMHO Little has probably had his day, but Newell and Jackson would still have some ambition. However, Newell would be most likely poached if we had any kind of decent run.

Isn't it Mike Newell who has said 'controversial' things about managers and bungs and also about women officiating in matches?
If it was him, has he many friends/contacts left after such remarks? Or does he plough his furrow alone?

I think he did make some ill-advised remarks on those topics. I think we've got to be careful, but I'd rather have a git than a has-been (Little)

So the safe bet must be Jackson then?

He had his big acheivement at Leicester several years ago, and has not acheived much at any of the jobs he has had since.

I am sure some of the candidates have skeletons in the closet and had bad moments in their football management. Its still a huge breath of fresh air, to be discussing the likes of these managers, unlike the names of Palmer, Curle, Thommo etc.

I quite agree,it is very nice to be discussing a better quality of manager than we've previously been able to talk about as potential managers for us.

Bit of history between Newell and Little; Newell scored the penalty to get Blackburn into the Premiership at the expense of Little's Leicester.

Don't get your hopes up: we'll still get Reg Scragbotty from BogFen Utd.

I'm still hoping for Newell. I'd take Jackson as a second option and Little as third od those three...

However, as has been alluded to it makes a nice change to be talking in terms of a potential manager of the likes of Little as third choice.

If Little does get it, I'd have preferred one of the others but I'd be pretty happy with him. Particularly if results followed and we got promotion and then I'd claim he was always my first choice anyway...

Note for those who want Little-he's missed out on promotion via the play-offs 3 times! But succeeded once!

He had his big acheivement at Leicester several years ago, and has not acheived much at any of the jobs he has had since.

So being the manager when Villa last won a trophy doesn't count as an acheivement doesn't it.

I think he is nailed on to be the next manager.
I don't for the life of me understand how Peter Jackson can be a better candidate than Little.
Foyle doesn't have anywhere near the same experience.
If Allen or Newell had applied I think we would know about it by now.

I don't think Page or Blackmore quite have the requisite experience.
