I quite agree,it is very nice to be discussing a better quality of manager than we've previously been able to talk about as potential managers for us.

Don't get your hopes up: we'll still get Reg Scragbotty from BogFen Utd.

Given that one of his hits was "I shot the Sheriff" we might have a centre back who'd want his loan cancelled if that happened!

So being the manager when Villa last won a trophy doesn't count as an acheivement doesn't it.

I think he is nailed on to be the next manager.
I don't for the life of me understand how Peter Jackson can be a better candidate than Little.
Foyle doesn't have anywhere near the same experience.
If Allen or Newell had applied I think we would know about it by now.

OK, he had success at Leicester and Villa, but since then it's just been all downhill. Since his premiership glory days he's struggled. I'd most like Newell, but I'm not sure if he'll apply.

Little edges it for me because he has Premiership experience.

Not sure that having premiership experience counts for a lot for managing at league 2. Would much rather have someone who knows the lower divisions.

He bottled it and quit at Hull when they were doing quite well.

Which is making Jackson edge into being favourite perhaps?

Who knows? Someone said he was there on Saturday and rumours are that he was being interviewed today.

Strange how the Echo reported Little being interviewed and all that's been reported since is speculation about who might be interested - do we read between the lines here?

A Vale fan over on Rivals says Little and Jackson have been interviewed there.

We could be forced to wait for their decision, even if they have a particular target.

I guess most unemployed managers will take a shot at all the reasonable vacancies out there at any one time. GB in charge again on Saturday, I think.

Says on this thread that Little wanted too much money which could put him out of our reach too.

Sometimes there is a fourth wise monkey depicted, the last one covers his crotch and symbolizes the principle of Do no Evil

A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain.

A cross between what we can afford and somebody nobody else wants - not an appealing thought.

But an accurate description of probably 90% of our managers.

The difference this time is the club at least appear to be looking for a higher calibre man, rather than appoint from within or take on total dross.

To do that obviously means competing with other clubs, and higher league clubs at that.
