I agree. People critisise Marriott for not commanding his area, but Smith is worse. He almost gifted them one at the end. To be fair to him though, his handling of shots was spot on.

If Marriott has a good game on Tuesday, I'd play him in the next league game too. Smith isn't going to come for permanent, and if this is the kick up the backside Mazza needed then well done Jacko.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Mazza has a blinder on Tuesday, surely he would have to keep his place for Saturday?

Even if Mazza does play out of his skin, I still think we will see the addition of a goalkeeper in January, and one who can challenge him for the No1 jersey.

I agree Jackson will be looking for one, but as we've seen this week bringing players in isn't that easy at the moment. Like Freck, Mazza is still a good player and if we can get him back in form (not that he's been the worst player this season by any means) that will be a big boost.

I'm not much of a goalkeeper but I thought Smith was commiting himself and going down for shots ridiculously early.

Set me straight Mr. Blades if this was the case or not as it was peeing me off all last night.

If I'm a child that means you're a pedophile, and I'll be damned if I'm going stand here and take this from a pervert.

There was one occasion I had a heart attack thinking he's gone to early, but it ended up in his hands so I put that down to just me being nervous.

I know he's supposed to be highly rated, but apart from his handling of a couple of tricky shots, he didn't fill me with confidence, and (admittedly on just 1 game) I would play Marriott over him every day of the week.

Mmmm...not for me..

i think it runs a bit deeper than that.......the back 4 look a lot more confident with a different keeper behind them............dont wanna get into a row with you all as I know massa has massive support on here....just not for me.... sorry.

I felt a lot more confident with Smith i goal....sure it wasnt perfect but made me feel less on edge and I never felt as tho a clanger was on the way...I felt the back 4 felt this too

A good all round team performance yesterday, and it's been while since we can say that. I thought Green had an excellent game, and I'd like to put a word in for Warlow as well who went some way towards convincing me he could be a decent left-winger.

Not for me on Warlow. I was just about to post a thread to get opinions on him. Persnally when I have seen him, he looks lighweight and the est way to desribe him is like a rabbit in the healights, seems overawed and nervous.

I hope I am proved totally wrong, as he looks to have a cracking left foot and plenty of pace. My advice to him would be to be more brave and take players on.

Had a cracking shot from a fk in the 1st half too but I would also put his performances down to lack of confidence, hopefully that can come from feeling more involved with the 1st team squad
