Hello everyone,
My press release for this Sunday's match Lady Imps v Manchester City...
-----------------
Lincoln City Ladies F.C. v Manchester City, at Collingham, Sunday 24th Feb 2pm
This Sunday, the Lady Imps will put aside all the excitement of reaching the semi-final stage of the FA Cup and focus on the vital task of taking all three points at home against Manchester City in their battle for Northern Division top spot come the end of the season.
Manchester City are presently lying mid-table in sixth spot, but will be desperate to take points from this match to avoid the possibility of being drawn into the ensuing relegation battle at the foot of the table - while this is also a vital game for Lincoln to win if they want to stand any chance of promotion to the top flight come the end of the season.
Lady Imps manager Rod Wilson knows that Manchester City are the only side this season apart from Lincoln to take points off promotion rivals Nottingham Forest, and therefore all thoughts of FA Cup glory must be set aside for his players to play their best football on Sunday, in what promises to be a very tricky encounter against Manchester City.
"On Sunday, it's vital that we to stop thinking about our forthcoming FA Cup semi final, and focus exclusively on our task against Manchester City," said Lady Imps manager Rod Wilson. "Any slip-ups against the blues could be devastating for our season," he said. "We must be utterly professional and go out on Sunday with only one thing on our minds, and that is to take all three points against tough opposition in the form of Manchester City. This game will not be easy, they are a very good side defensively, and can catch you out on the break - we will have to be on top form and perform at our very best if we want to achieve a result against them this week" said Wilson.
Lady Imps chairman added "we had around 300 people come to Collingham to support us last Sunday and witness a historic victory against National Division Blackburn. This match is every bit as important to us, I can assure you, and it would be fantastic to see some of those faces who were present last Sunday come and support us against Manchester City. The game promises to be just as tense, and it would be great to have lots of support to cheer the girls on to a very important victory for this one!" he said
