As long as he is played as a central defender and not out wide !
Despite the fact that CS is using (has to use ?) the loan system to build a team for his short term objective of keeping us in the league, I'm quite impressed that he managing to keep some continuity going, and finding players who want to be here.

My only slight worry is how much does the playing of loan players stymie the development of our own decent young players. It may be a necessary evil for this season but I would be disappointed if this was a long term strategy.

I'm all for bringing in loanees if they are realistic transfer targets (e.g. Watt, Torres, Uwezu) to have a look at them and see if they can adapt to this level but when they are more than likely players who would not come down to this level at this stage of their careers (Baker, Saunders, Herd) on a permanent basis then it can only be a short term fix. What, for example, do Moses Swaibu (a decent prospect) and Danny Hone (a very good prospect just a year ago) think of this move.

Some good points TGD, but Suttons first objective is to maintain league status, and he obviously decided he needed radical change.
On the point of Swaibu and Hone, my opinion is that Swaibu is well ahead of Hone in the pecking order. As you say, DH was a great prospect a year or 18 months ago, since then he has not progressed in either aptitude or attitude. I suffered (and I mean that) his last performance at Morecambe, and believe me he would have to show a big improvement in all areas to convince CS to persevere with him.
As for the other fringe youngsters, I agree it is debatable whether they are getting a chance. Didn't I read they are back with the youth rather than senior squad, and it's hard to see how CS can judge their progress (or lack of) if he's not seeing them training with the first choice players.

I see why he's doing it and its probably the right thing to do for now but I hope our young players get a chance further down the line as our youth policy has been a shining example for the lower leagues of late.

I agree that Swaibu is well ahead of Hone and also witnessed his horror show at Morecambe. However, it has to be remembered that he was being watched by a number of teams a 18 months ago and I wouldn't want to discard him yet. Perhaps a spell on loan at a decent Conference club will offer him the games he needs to get back to his best.

Baker had a cracker of a game today. To be fair to Sutton, he has signed two decent players in Watts and Saunders, and Gilmore and Keltie may turn out to be decent signings as well. I think we'll see more of that and less of the loans over the summer.

Baker was awesome today, mom as he was at Barnett.Had grave doubts about him but am choking after his performances.Seems to work well with Watts.
Shane Clarke made an important tackle late on in the box.
