Maybe worth giving a chance to with us having so many injuries, he has experience and wants to play for us, I think CS is being a bit unfair releasing things like this, I'm sure he wouldn't be happy if Butch gave his side of the story.

I can't help it,
I was dragged up.

I think CS is reinforcing his message to Butch that he (Butch) is not in his plans full stop. Perish the thought that CS is trying to goad Butch into saying or doing something unwise.
This isn't a happy situation for either party.
As for CS being bothered about what players, or fans for that matter, say and think.....well all I can say is I very much doubt if he gives a fig for anyone's opinion but his own plus his assistant and coach, and I think they come a poor second.

It's a sad situation in a way but that's life as they say. I think it is pretty clear that he is not in Sutton's plans at all and, in fairness to Butcher, he doesn't have to go anywhere - just sit and take the money. That is his right and you can't blame him for exercising that right if that is what he feels about it.

Trouble is it happens in football all the time when managerial changes take place.

Good post, OIF, you have summed it up quite beautifully!

We've got (another) new manager. Will he be a very good manager? I do hope so.

Honestly it's just work isn't it? I am sure there are many posters on here who had a great relationship with the boss/manager and then he goes and then the new bloke..........and it isn't the same.

We probably all think football is different but it isn't really is it?
