As I've mentioned elsewhere, co-option is a commonly used method to bring expertise to a Board that its elected members may lack. Myself and my wife were co-opted Trustee members of a local charity for precisely that reason. In that role, my wife raised £250k through bid-writing that has kept the charity running.

The trade off though is being constantly co-opted each period and believing in the full democratic principles of being a Trust.

If someone is constantly co-opted onto any board without ever putting themself up for democratic elections, isn't that cheating the system? Why should anyone have to put themselves up for voting?

Does that happen? I genuinely don't know. My own view is that one would hope that the elected Board would be sensible enough to co-opt on the basis of ability and usefulness. Given that most of the Board is elected, I don't see it as a major problem in any case.

Rob Bradley has also stated in this thread that most of the elected members will have to stand down this term. For those that have concerns about the running of the Trust (or who just want to get involved), my advice would be to put themselves forward for election.

What utter rubbish. Everyone knows you are the site editor. It's your choice to bizarrely post with multiple identities. Most of us just stick to the one ID and don't try to fudge our opinions with nonsense like that. Still, if you don't have the courage of your convictions...

Indeed you have also accused me of spreading malicious lies in your time on the Vital board. I also now understand your stance towards the 12th man given that in another post you made with reference to your attendance at gold member meetings.

Really? When and where? Put up or shut up. What I have said is that you present information as unequivocable fact that you know are often only rumours. Your weasel argument in response was that it is your "style".

I doubt you understand anything to do with my stance towards the 12th Man as you posts repeatedly demonstrate.

I only post as Codbater incudentally but then as usual your arguments never stand up, so I will leave you to your own imaginaton. I have had my say and do not intend to turn this board into a circus as I have too much respect for Posh.

Incidentally with regard to the 12th man forum I thought we had agreed or is this memory of a goldfish syndrome catching. Anyway I am sure you will have the last word as usual. Shall I expect you and the london buses along shortly

Well exactly, which is why your thinly veiled comment made no sense to me. For the record, I think that if the 12th Man is run sensibly (with a full published Constitution and the democracy that you are so keen on for the Trust), it would be a good idea. Currently it has neither a Constitution nor any elected members and hence no accountability whatsoever. Sauce for the goose...

Also for the record, this is a very interesting and productive thread. Whilst I disagree with certain perspectives of other posters, I am fully in agreement that every aspect of how the Club and Trust (and the 12th Man) are run should be up for debate, comment and hopefully improvement.

Hang on, aren't YOU trying to have the last word?

But really, what a poor response. You're the first to criticise others, but have nothing sensible to say when your views are questioned. Don't think that people won't notice that...

This has to end ,what purpose does it serve in my eyes only one upmanship, the 12th man works well with the Trust and i have no interest with creating a divide.
Notty please stop with the constitution you know the score on that.
The 12th man was created by the club and fans to try and raise funds for the club.
As per normal no one is interested apart from internet coments.
Beleive me talk is cheap, action speaks louder than words.

I look forward to seeing the Constitution. As to the rest, it's all up for debate which is the life-blood of internet mbs. My responses are generally made to potentially controversial comments posted by others. Perhaps, Helgy, you should address your comments to them, not me?

You quoting "site confidentiality" is rich. Is that the same confidentiality that encouraged you to "out" a Member of the Board of LCFC who just happened not to share your views and dared to say so? The Club does not need shaking up; you do. And I am sure the current Chairman will have noted with thanks your comments on his departure.

This thread is under very imminent danger of being locked.

You have been warned.

We've got (another) new manager. Will he be a very good manager? I do hope so.

You are back, i been waiting to ask you a question, what do you think of the fans buying shares and would 500 fans putting in a tenner a month be enough to help th Imps finances towards a promotion push.
I feel we have the right manager at long last and things are dropping into place.
This could give us a massive advantage over our L2 rivals?

AFC Wimbledon fans did it and they rose from the ashes,no one wants a County to happen to us but i very much doubt that, as City do check these fly by nighters out.
We have the Trust in place with 25% to represent the fans and secure the future.
The sound structure is there if only the fans could realise that this is what is needed sound financial backing and sustainable.
It would give us a massive advantage and would we be the first league club to do it.
The fans would then own the club me i have i binned sky sports not much of a sacrifice was it .
I realise that my hard earned money was not going to my beloved City but to those overpaid nancy boys.
We have no white knight to come in and the only alternative is for us to do something.
